Q10-1. Do I have to apply for the scholarship separately from the program itself?
A

You do not have to apply for the scholarship separately. When you make an application for Kyoto iUP in the Online Application System, please just select "Yes" to the question "Do you wish to be considered for this scholarship? ".

Q10-2. What is the duration of the scholarship?
A

The scholarship will be paid for up to four and a half years (including the Preparatory Course period). However, each student's performance is evaluated every semester to determine the stipend amount and whether the student is still eligible to receive it.

Q10-3. I would like to decline the offer of admission if the scholarship is not granted, but is there a case where the scholarship will not be provided even if I am accepted?
A

All successful applicants will receive a scholarship if they indicate a desire to receive one when submitting the Letter of Intent to Enroll.

Q10-4. Is it possible to apply for Kyoto iUP through MEXT?
A

No, it is not. We only accept applications to Kyoto iUP through the "Online Application System". Please note that application through any other method is not acceptable. If you are an international student who are currently based overseas and wishing to attend Kyoto University on the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship, please go to this page.

Q10-5. Is there any other scholarship provided by Kyoto University for international students entering undergraduate courses other than Kyoto iUP?
A

Unfortunately, there are no scholarships offered by Kyoto University other than the Kyoto iUP. For a list of scholarship information for privately financed students, please go to this page and check the "Scholarships from private foundations" section. Please note that many of these scholarships expect applicants to have a certain level of Japanese language Proficiency and are highly competitive.
