Q2-1. When and where can I find the information on application?
A

We usually issue the Application Guidelines around July on this page.
Before the Guidelines are issued, you can refer to the past Guidelines on the same page.
We sometimes update the information there even after the Guidelines are issued, so please keep your eyes.

Q2-2. When and how can I apply?
A

The application period is usually from November to December. Please make sure to refer to the Application Guidelines.

Q2-3. I completed a school curriculum lasting less than 12 years in my home country. Am I qualified to apply?
A

If the curriculum is recognized as equivalent to 12-year formal education by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), you are eligible to apply. Please refer to the MEXT website.

Q2-4. I skipped a grade (grade acceleration) and completed a 12-year primary and secondary education curriculum in 11 years. Am I qualified to apply?
A

If your grade acceleration was (or will be) accredited by your primary or secondary school, then it is considered that you have (or will have) completed a 12-year course of primary to secondary education, in which case you will be qualified to apply.

Q2-5. I am a non-Japanese citizen who graduated/will graduate from a Japanese high school that operates a curriculum based on the Japanese education system. Am I qualified to apply?
A

If you do not meet the eligibility requirements described in  2 a) - d) of the Application Guidelines, and if you are unsure about your eligibility, please complete the Eligibility Screening Process specified on the Application Guidelines.

Q2-6. I have received education in two or more countries due to my parents working in multiple countries. How should I calculate the number of years of primary to secondary education I have received?
A

Please determine the number of years based on the education curriculum in the country in which you completed/will have completed your secondary education. If it is a 12-year curriculum, then you are qualified to apply. If it is less than 12-years, please apply for the eligibility screening process.

Q2-7. If I am admitted, can I postpone my enrollment?
A

No, you cannot. You must begin the Preparatory Course in the designated year.

Q2-8. How should I select the faculty to enroll in?
A

Please refer to the Majors and Areas of Study or Faculty Guide to find a faculty which corresponds to your academic interests.

Q2-9. I do not have my own credit card. What should I do?
A

A credit card belonging to a family member may be used.

Q2-10. I have been enrolled in several different high schools. From which high school should I obtain my evaluation and transcripts?
A

Request your evaluation from the high school that you are currently attending, or most recently attended.
You must submit transcripts from all of the high schools you attended.

Q2-11. I am currently a university student. Can I submit an evaluation from my university instead of from my high school? Also, which school transcript should I submit?
A

Please submit an evaluation from your high school or the person who is well acquainted with your academic performance in your high school*. The transcripts should cover your entire time in high school. Higher education (university) transcripts are also required if applicable.

Q2-12. I am currently working for a company. Is my high school evaluation required? Can I submit an evaluation from my employer instead?
A

An evaluation from your employer is not acceptable. Please submit an evaluation from your high school or the person who is well acquainted with your academic performance in your high school*.

Q2-13. Can I send the required documents by e-mail?
A

Please submit the application documents through the Online Application System. The link of the System is in this page.

Q2-14. How are successful applicants announced?
A

Results are sent to applicants via the Online Application System. Regarding the notification date, etc., please refer to the Application Guidelines.

Q2-15. The result of the national standardized test in my country will not be available before the application deadline. What should I do?
A

If neither the actual score nor predicted score are available by the application deadline, applicants can complete their application without including the standardized test results. In this case, please select "Cannot submit any score" in the Online Application System, and state the reason in the "Remarks" column. Please note, however, that if the applicant passes the document screening, either a final or predicted standardized test result must be submitted before the interview.

Q2-16. Are there any requirements regarding the subjects that must be taken for the standardized tests?
A

Please refer to Appendix 1 of the Application Guidelines (List of acceptable standardized tests).

Q2-17. New school transcripts, which include my records for the latest semester, will become available after the application deadline. Can I submit the latest transcripts via email after the deadline?
A

After the deadline, the Admissions Office does not accept any additional documents or replacements for submitted documents. Please do not send any additional documents after the deadline, unless they are explicitly requested/permitted by the Admissions Office.
