Yoshida South Library

Yoshida South Library is the closest and most frequently used library for Kyoto University students taking Liberal Arts and Sciences courses. Over 700,000 materials including valuable and historical collections help your study and research. Study space with computers, audio-visual room and newspaper reading room are also available.

Undergraduate students can borrow books for 2 weeks at the maximum and reserve up to 5 books if they are out on loan. If materials you need are not available in Kyoto University, you can make a request to other libraries in Japan or overseas.

While Yoshida South Library is a quiet place, there is a conversation allowed library called "Wa-on" on the first floor of Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies Building. The concept of Wa-on is a space for creativity and learning through academic communication using library materials. You can learn either individually or in groups and use this space for meetings, discussions and so on.
